Confirming Student Understanding of Course Expectations and AI Policy
Overview
Students complete a short quiz on basic course expectations, including AI use, at the beginning of a course to unlock the remaining content.
Why Use This?
This short quiz ensures students have read and understand key course expectations, such as what is required to pass the course and what the course policy is regarding the use of generative AI. Since meeting these expectations is critical, students must pass the quiz before they can access the rest of the course.

How Does It Work?
Students take the quiz after reading through the “Syllabus” module, which is where all the quiz answers, including the AI policy, can be found. Students can take the quiz as many times as they would like, but they must get all four questions correct to access the rest of the course.
Keep In Mind
- Clearly communicating your AI policy and providing guidelines for its use are key at the start of a course.
- Only include 4-5 questions on the quiz. Focus on the most important information that students need to know.
- Make sure the quiz is auto-graded so students can quickly move forward in the course when they pass the quiz.
