Using an AI “Study Buddy”

Overview

Students use AI to create a case study and related study questions to help them review key terms and concepts from a reading.

Why Use This?

This activity fosters peer-to-peer learning by asking students to create and share case studies and study questions with one another. It also teaches them how to use AI in an appropriate way to deepen their understanding of the course content. By creating case studies, students also see essential terms and concepts presented in an authentic way.

How Does It Work?

Students post their AI-generated case studies and study questions on a discussion board. They then select one case study shared by a peer and answer the study questions. The original poster then replies with the correct answers.

Keep In Mind

Consider modifying this activity to be a stand-alone assignment rather than a discussion.
Give students a prompt to get started, then encourage them to share how they may have revised the prompt to produce their AI-generated content.
Adapt this activity for any subject where students can use AI to help them learn the course material and put the concepts into practice.
