Providing Feedback on Demonstrated Skills

Overview

Students record their demonstration of a skill (in this case, speaking French) in a Canvas quiz using the Rich Content Editor, and the instructor provides feedback on their work in SpeedGrader.

Why Use This?

In a skill-based course, such as learning to speak, listen, write, and read in a new language, frequent demonstrations of those skills are important for the instructor to provide ongoing feedback to the students to help them improve their skill set.

How Does It Work?

The instructor evaluates each student’s performance and provides unique, personalized feedback through SpeedGrader.

Keep In Mind

Asking students to demonstrate their skills could require a very detailed amount of feedback depending on the student’s performance. Using a rubric to evaluate the skill according to various criteria (e.g., correct emphasis, pronunciation, and cadence) can speed up the grading process.
